Wine culture in Prince Edward County is all about the passionate believers who face the challenges of the elements. A virtual island jutting into Lake Ontario with dozens of bays, inlets and harbours, "the County" has great potential for grape growing - with slopes facing onto the shores of Lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte. This land benefits from "lake effect", where the surrounding water mass moderates the air temperature through the seasons.
